Setting Up Your School Store

A guide for Site Leaders and Admins on creating, editing, and organizing rewards for the School Store.

Creating your Store Menu

The first step to building a successful School Store is to create a menu of rewards for your students. To get started, click on Setup > School Store in the Rewards section. You'll find all the tools you need to organize categories, manage your store’s inventory and make rewards available to students.

Adding Categories & Ordering

To make it easy for staff to charge rewards, you can organize your store into different categories.

  1. Click "New Category" to create a new section for your rewards.

  2. Name your category (e.g., "Experiences," "Physical Rewards," or "School Supplies").

  3. You can reorder your categories by clicking Reorder and dragging the categories into your preferred order. Once done, click Save. This allows you to highlight certain rewards or group them in a way that makes sense for you and your staff.

Creating Rewards

Once you have your categories set up, you can start adding the individual rewards that students can purchase.

  1. Click "New Reward."

  2. Name the Reward: Give your reward a clear and exciting name (e.g., "Lunch with a Teacher" or "LiveSchool T-shirt").

  3. Add a Photo: Uploading a picture helps students visualize the reward.

  4. Set the Price: Enter the number of points a student needs to redeem for this reward.

  5. Add a Description: Provide a short but detailed description of what the student will receive.

  6. Identify the inventory: Enter an amount if there is a limited number of this reward. If there is no limitation, keep the unlimited box checked.

    1. If there is a set inventory amount, you will be defaulted as the person who will receive low stock and out of stock emails for this reward. If you would like to add or change this, click on the word “you” that is in blue under the Inventory field to make updates.

Turning On Student Shopping

Once you've finished creating your rewards, you're ready to open the store so students can start shopping!

  1. On the Edit Menu screen, click on the "Student Shopping is Here!" banner.

  2. Follow the prompts to set your School Store status to Open.

That's it! Students will now be able to purchase rewards directly from their Recap. If you ever need to close the store, simply click on the word "Open" on the Edit Menu screen and select "Close." When the store is closed, students can still browse your rewards but will not be able to make a purchase.
