Setting Up Your Own Teacher Store

A guide for users on how to create, edit, and organize the items available for your students to purchase in your Teacher Store.

Before you can set up a Teacher Store, ensure the "Allow Teachers to Create Their Own Stores" setting is on for your site. You can do this by going to Setup and seeing if the “My Store” option is there in the Rewards Section of the screen. If not, contact your Administrator and ask them to turn this setting on.

Why set up a teacher store

A Teacher Store is a fantastic way to create a reward system that is tailored to your classroom and students. It allows you to offer unique rewards that are most meaningful to your students and helps foster a positive and engaging classroom community.

Note: The points students use to purchase rewards in your store come from their single, school-wide bank account. This includes all points they have received from any teacher or staff member across the school.

Creating/Editing your teacher store menu

First, you'll need to create the menu of rewards for your classroom.

Creating Rewards

  1. To get started, navigate to your store menu by going to Setup > My Store

  2. Click "Create a Reward" and fill in the details.

  3. Give your reward a clear name, a brief description, and set a price.

  4. Adding a picture is a great way to make the reward more appealing to students. When you click Upload, you can choose between uploading a file or searching the web.

  5. If you have physical items, be sure to set the inventory quantity. For more details, see our article on managing inventory.

Adding/Editing Categories

When you create your first reward, a category will automatically be created and named after you (e.g., "Ms. Smith's Store"). You can keep this name or easily change it by clicking on Edit in the top right corner of the category box.

Categories are a great way to keep your rewards organized. To add another category, click on New Category, give it a name (e.g., "Prizes," "Classroom Privileges"), and then click New Reward within that category to start adding rewards. You can easily reorder your categories by clicking Reorder and dragging them into your preferred order.

Note: Your Categories are visible when checking out students on the Charge Rewards tab to help with organization. They do not appear on the student's Recap.

Who can see my store’s rewards?

It's important to understand the access and purchasing rules for your Teacher Store.

  • Your store and its rewards are only visible to students who are in a roster that is on your My Rosters tab. This ensures that only your students can browse on their Recap and purchase the rewards you've created for them.

  • Only you can charge a reward from your Teacher Store using the Charge Rewards tab. You will always see your Teacher Store categories and rewards when checking out any student.

Turning On Student Shopping

Once you’ve finished creating your rewards, you can open your store for student shopping!

  1. On the Edit Menu screen, click on the "Student Shopping is Here!" banner.

  2. Follow the prompts to set your Teacher Store status to Open.

That's it! Your students will now be able to purchase rewards directly from their Recap. If you need to close the store, simply click on the word "Open" on the Edit Menu screen and select "Close." When the store is closed, students can still see your rewards but will not be able to make a purchase.
