Kiosk mode turns a spare device into a pass station. Students look themselves up, start their own pass, and check back in when they return. The rest of LiveSchool is locked while the kiosk is running, so the device is safe to hand to a student.
Passes started at the kiosk are issued by whoever launched it, so they appear in your records the same as passes you hand out yourself.
Before you start: Hall Passes needs to be turned on for your school, and at least one destination needs to allow students to start it themselves. The kiosk only offers those. Sensitive and archived destinations never appear.
Launch the Kiosk
Go to Points.
Open the More menu in the action bar.
Choose Hall Pass Kiosk.
Pick how students find themselves: Scan their Badge, Search their Name, or both. You need at least one.
Enter a 4-digit Exit PIN. It stays hidden while you type, since you are usually setting it with the class watching.
Choose Launch Kiosk.
What Students See
The kiosk waits on a welcome screen showing whichever lookup methods you turned on. Students either hold their badge up to the camera or tap their name from the list.
Once the kiosk knows who they are, it greets them and shows the destinations they can pick from:
Choosing a destination starts the pass and confirms it on screen:
If that destination is already at capacity, the student joins the waitlist and the kiosk tells them they are in line. If nothing is available to them, the kiosk says so and points them back to you.
Every screen returns to the welcome screen on its own, so the kiosk is always ready for the next student.
Checking Back In
When a student comes back, they look themselves up the same way. Students who are currently out are pinned to the top of the name list, so they do not have to scroll to find themselves. The kiosk welcomes them back and offers End Pass.
Exit Kiosk Mode
Choose Exit and enter your 4-digit PIN.
Refreshing the page returns to the kiosk, so a student cannot reload their way out.
Opening a new tab starts a normal session. A fresh tab is treated as a fresh device.
The kiosk fits tablets in either portrait or landscape.
