Students can start and end their own hall passes from their LiveSchool account, on their own device. This is what that looks like from their side.
Starting a pass here is not asking permission. The student has already asked their teacher, and this records the pass on their way out the door. Only pass types your school allows students to start themselves will appear.
Starting a Pass
Under Hall Passes, students choose an applicable Hall Pass type:
They pick a destination and the pass starts straight away:
Each destination uses the same color your school picked in Pass Types, so it looks familiar from the classroom board.
Destinations a student cannot take right now still appear, with the reason shown. A paused destination is labeled Paused rather than disappearing, so students know to come back later instead of assuming it is gone:
While They Are Out
The tab becomes Current and shows a Pass Active card with where they are headed. When they get back, they choose I'm Back to end the pass themselves.
When a Destination Is Full
If a destination is at capacity, the student is added to a wait list instead of being turned away:
Their card reads On the wait list, and changes to You're up! when a spot opens, at which point they can start the pass:
They can also choose to leave the wait list.
Students are never told why they were held back. Naming a full room invites students to test how full it is, and naming a No Meetup conflict would reveal both that a student is on a list and that a classmate is out right now. They simply see that they are on the wait list.
My Passes
The Activity tab is the student's own history. They can filter it for Hall Passes and by time period:
Dates follow your school's day, so a pass taken late in the day is filed on the right date even if the family is in a different time zone.
What Families See
Depending on what you've set the Family portal visibility to, parents and guardians see the same pass history for each of their linked children:
