Pause Hall Passes

Stop new hall passes being issued school-wide, for every pass type or just the ones you choose.

Written by Laura Litton

Pausing stops new hall passes from being issued without turning Hall Passes off. It is built for the moments when students should stay put: an assembly, a fire drill, testing, or when the bathroom is receiving maintenance.

A pause applies to your whole school, and it takes effect immediately on every device. It stops new passes only. Students who are already out keep their passes and can still check back in.

Pause Every Pass Type

  • Go to Hall Passes.

  • Choose Pause.

  • Leave Pause all pass types selected.

  • Pick how long: 15m, 30m, 1h, or Until I resume.

  • Choose Pause to confirm.

Pause Specific Pass Types

You do not have to stop everything. For example, you can pause the Bathroom during a passing period while the Nurse stays available.

  • Choose Pause.

  • Select Pause specific types.

  • Tick the pass types you want to stop. You need at least one.

  • Pick a duration and confirm.

What People See While Paused

Admin and Site Leaders see a banner across the top of the Hall Passes board showing what is paused and, if you set a duration, a live countdown. An Edit link on the banner changes the scope or the timer without resuming first.

The pause applies to staff too. While a pass type is paused, nobody can issue it, from the board or from the Points action bar:

Resume

Choose Resume on the board whenever you are ready.

If you set a duration, you do not need to do anything. The pause lifts on its own when the time runs out and passes start flowing again.
