Get LiveSchool Alerts on Your Phone or Computer

Turn on Hall Pass and Behavior alerts for your phone or browser from your profile's Notifications tab.

Written by Laura Litton

Get Hall Pass and Behavior alerts as notifications on your phone or computer, even when LiveSchool is not open in front of you. You manage everything from the Notifications tab on your profile.

Who can do this: Administrators and Site Leaders always see the Notifications tab. Teachers see it once they are on an alert, for example when a Site Leader adds them to the overdue hall pass alert list. Students and families do not get these notifications.

Turn On Notifications

  1. Click Profile at the bottom of the sidebar.

  2. Click the Notifications tab.

  3. Turn on the switch for the device you are using:

    • In the LiveSchool phone app: Notifications on this device.

    • On a computer: Browser notifications on this browser. Your browser will ask for permission. Choose Allow.

The switch only covers the phone or browser you are using right now. Repeat these steps on each device where you want alerts.

Choose Your Alerts

Overdue hall pass alerts

Turn on Overdue hall pass alerts to be notified when a student is out too long. If overdue alerts are off for your school, turning this on also turns them on for your school. This option only shows if your school uses Hall Passes.

If you can't change this switch, a Site Leader chooses who gets these alerts in Hall Passes > General.

Behavior alerts

  1. Under Behavior alerts, click Add a behavior alert.

  2. Check each behavior you want to be alerted about. Each check saves right away.

  3. To stop an alert, click Remove me next to that behavior.

Administrators and Site Leaders who can edit the rubric can add behavior alerts. Teachers see the behavior alerts they are on, but can't change them. Schools on the Starter plan have a limit on how many behavior alerts they can set up.

Hall pass approval requests

If you're a pass manager on a pass that needs approval, like the nurse for a Nurse pass, each new request comes to this device too, so you can answer it without being at your desk. There's nothing extra to turn on. To become a pass manager, ask an Administrator or Site Leader. See Approve Hall Pass Requests.

Turn Notifications Off

Turn off Notifications on this device or Browser notifications on this browser. LiveSchool will not show you any notifications on that device until you turn it back on.

Troubleshooting

It says notifications are blocked

Your phone or browser is set to block notifications from LiveSchool, so the switch can't turn on.

In the phone app: tap Open Settings, turn on notifications for LiveSchool, then come back to the app.

In a browser:

  1. Click the icon to the left of the web address (a lock or settings icon).

  2. Find Notifications and change it to Allow.

  3. Reload the page, then turn the switch on.

In Safari, go to Safari > Settings > Websites > Notifications.

It says Not available

Your browser can't show LiveSchool notifications. iPhone and iPad browsers can't show them, so get the LiveSchool app instead. On a computer, try the latest Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. You will still see your alerts inside LiveSchool and on any other device where notifications are on.

I don't see the Notifications tab

Teachers only see the tab once they are on an alert. Ask a Site Leader or Administrator to add you.

Notifications can't be set up while logged in as someone else

If you are logged in as another user, log back in as yourself to set up notifications.
