The top 10 pro-tips and best practices to get the most out of LiveSchool.

In this article, we're here to guide you through the top 10 tips and tricks to maximize your LiveSchool experience. Whether you're a seasoned educator or just getting started, these practical insights will help you create a positive learning environment, streamline your workflow, and make the most of LiveSchool's powerful features.

From adding a personal touch with profile pictures to harnessing the magic of the Randomizer, each tip is designed to enhance your engagement with students, simplify administrative tasks, and boost the overall effectiveness of LiveSchool. So, let's dive in and discover how to make the most out of this dynamic platform, one tip at a time:

Tip 10: Add a Profile Picture

Enhance the welcoming atmosphere in your school's LiveSchool space by adding your profile picture:

Click on your initials or image in the top right corner.  Select your name to upload a new image.

Your profile picture will be shown alongside the points you award on the Timeline, as well as on student and parent accounts.

  1. Click your initials in the top right corner.

  2. Then, click the pencil icon to edit your profile picture.

  3. Choose an image from your computer, Facebook, or Instagram.

  4. Finally, click 'Upload'!

Tip 9: Award to All

Streamline the process of awarding points to your entire class or the majority of your class with Select All:

Use the select all icon in the top, right corner of the screen.  Deselect those the absent students, or those not participating in the Behavior you're awarding, and then select the Behavior.
  1. Simply click 'Select All'.

  2. Unselect students who are absent or not meeting expectations.

  3. Then, award your points as usual.

Tip 8: Student Search

Efficiently award points to any student in your school using the Student Search feature:

Use the Search icon in the top, right corner to search for a student that you'd like to award points to.
  1. Click 'Search Students' in the top right corner.

  2. Type a few letters of the student's name.

  3. You can search for and select multiple students if needed.

  4. Apply the search and proceed to award points as usual.

Tip 7: Sounds and Popups

Engage students effectively with sounds and popups, and use the audible "Ding!" to remind them to maintain good behavior:

Select the Settings icon in the top right and click on Display Settings.  A menu will open to the left of different options to choose.

You can customize this feature:

  1. Click 'More' in the top right corner.

  2. Go to 'Display settings.'

  3. Under 'Sounds & Popups,' toggle "Mute" to turn off all sounds and popups or adjust settings individually for merits, demerits, or the randomizer.

Tip 6: Randomizer

Make student selection fair and fun with the Randomizer. It ensures all students get a turn before anyone is selected a second time:

Select the more icon in the top right and click on the Randomizer to randomly select a student.
  1. Click 'More' and select 'Randomizer.'

  2. Customize Sounds and popups for the Randomizer using the steps from Tip 7.

  3. You can also use the Randomizer to select a student from a group you've chosen.

Tip 5: Add a (Saved) Comment

Enhance points with comments to provide extra context, encouragement, or support:

After selecting a behavior click on the comments icon in the top, right corner and click on the saved tab at the top of the text box.
  1. From the Rubric screen, click the comment icon in the top right corner.

  2. Add your desired text.

  3. The comment will be visible to students and parents on their LiveSchool accounts and on Recaps.

  4. Save comments for later use by checking the box on the comment screen.

Tip 4: Undo

Undo points awarded by mistake effortlessly:

Click on the more icon in the top, right corner to open a menu and click on Timeline.  From there, click on the red x to delete the specific transaction.
  1. From the Points screen, click 'More' in the top right corner.

  2. Select 'Timeline.'

  3. You'll see a list of your class's points. Undo any points by clicking the Red X.

Tip 3: Student Timeline

Get a comprehensive view of a student's day and behavior history with the Student Timeline:

To see. a Timeline of a specific student, select the student and click the more icon in the top, right corner.  When the menu opens select Timeline.
  1. From 'Points,' select a student.

  2. Click 'More' in the top right, then select 'Timeline.'

  3. Apply filters for specific behaviors, awarding teachers, or point types by clicking the column names on the timeline.

Tip 2: Student Dashboards

Gain insight into a student's behavior patterns with Student Dashboards:

From the Points screen, select a student and then the Settings icon in the top, right corner.  Click on Dashboard from the menu that opens.
  1. Select a student.

  2. Click 'More' (three dots), then select 'Dashboard.'

  3. View point totals, a behavior graph over time, top behaviors, awarding teachers, and reward spending.

  4. Drill down to Timeline details by clicking the numbers below the graph.

  5. Create PDFs of Student Dashboards for individual students, specific rosters, grades, or the entire school.

Tip 1: Review Your Teacher Dashboard

Use your Teacher Dashboard to assess your positive-to-negative point ratio, track students you're awarding points to the most, and more:

From the Insights screen, click on Dashboard.  Click on a point value to open a Timeline that drills down the information.
  1. Access your Teacher Dashboard under 'Insights' > 'Dashboards' > 'Teacher.'

  2. Change the time frame to review points for the week or month using the calendar icon.

  3. Remember, your Teacher Dashboard is private and only visible to you and LiveSchool administrators at your school.
